John Peachell, MDDr John Peachell

Medical Director

Dr. Peachell grew up in the mountaineering mecca of Winnipeg, Manitoba but spent most of his adult life working and playing in the mountains of Alberta and B.C. He graduated from medical school at the University of Alberta and has extensive experience in teaching and practicing all aspects of cardiac surgery, trauma and critical illnesses. In addition, Dr. Peachell has completed courses in mountain & altitude medicine, wilderness medicine, CPR, Advanced Adult, Pediatric and Trauma Life Support and Wilderness Advanced Life Support. He is currently completing an International Diploma in Mountain Medicine. His passion for the outdoors and dedication to teaching first aid is a valuable asset to the students that take a WMC course.


Mike Inniss, MD

Instructor WMCDr John Peachell

Mike's medical career has been in remote, rural and emergency medicine. He maintains qualifications in Advanced Cardiac, Trauma, Pediatric and Wilderness Life Support. He is medical director of the Whitewater ski patrol and CAA level 1 qualified. He is field physician with Nelson Search and Rescue and a heli-sling technician with Kootenay Heli Rescue. Mike spends his winters ski touring
in the Selkirks and summers running and riding the trails around his home in Nelson, BC where he lives with his wife Sherry, daughters Riley, Jamie and Regan and dogs Sushi and Bingo.




Shelley Secord, WEMTShelley Secord

Shelley grew up in Ontario but now calls beautiful British Columbia home. She obtained a degree in Biology, is a licensed Massage Therapist and has completed many courses in Wilderness Medicine and First Aid, including a Wilderness EMT and EMR course and is involved in the organizing and teaching of our various courses. She is also working on her Fellowship with the Wilderness Medical Society, staying current with new Wilderness Medicine techniques. Her love of outdoor adventure and commitment to teaching is a big part of the success of WMC.



Jillian Mackenzie, EMT-PJillian Mackenzie

Jillian is an Advanced Care Paramedic currently working for the BC Ambulance Service in Revelstoke. She moved to BC two years ago from Calgary. In Calgary she obtained her Paramedic Diploma in and worked as an EMT and then Paramedic for Calgary EMS. She is knowledgeable in the skills one needs to practice pre-hospital medicine in the outdoor environment. She has been a Pro Patroller for ten seasons in the Rockies, New Zealand and most recently at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Jillian spends the majority of her free time enjoying skiing, mountain biking, hiking and dirt biking in and around Revelstoke.




Jody Goodwin, WFRJody Goodwin

Jody is originally from Edmonton, AB, but has spent most of her youth growing up in New Brunswick but now calls Canmore home. Jody achieved a degree in Physical Education from the University of Alberta, with a concentration in Sport Performance. She has experience working as an exercise therapist, personal trainer, and has extensive experience working with an adventure guiding company both as a guide and office manager. Jody is currently going through the ACMG training process to become a Hiking Guide. She is also an avid outdoorswomen who enjoys rock and alpine climbing, backcountry skiing, hiking, backpacking and so much more. Jody has her Wilderness First Responder training and is WMC's primary CPR Instructor.
